Matt does everything briskly, cheerfully, efficiently and inventively, and can be counted on to give good value. We have worked together for many years now, beginning with a small deck, expanding to the conversion of an old stable into a house, then to a house built from scratch, and finally to major two-storey additions in brickwork to the main Caldbec House. All this when I am mainly abroad, and while coping with running multiple rental properties. His team are a pleasure to work with, and patient with all inevitable chops and changes. We had a short time for our project (renovation of a 1990s build) in the winter, and one of our friends highly recommended Matt at the start. During our 1st meeting, we were impressed by how genuine he was and how well he listened to what we wanted. Based on our needs, he quoted honestly for the planned works and the time needed to complete them. Once we agreed, their team started the work exactly on the day he agreed. We were impressed by his team, who were ready to work even in the harsh winter when there was no heating in the property. He project-managed excellently with his team and brought in the electrical, tiling, flooring and plumbing teams when exactly needed. If we had any alternate suggestions or additions while the renovation was going on, he was always accessible. I would further stress to say that Matt went above and beyond the norm to get the changes done at a very reasonable price. Matt was proactive throughout the project and nudged us in the right direction to stay a step ahead, so the project continued at the right pace.

He helped us navigate planning permission, convert the kitchen and dining into an open-plan kitchen, and renovate and refit the bathrooms. He brought in a kitchen and bedroom fitter despite delivery issues from our kitchen supplier.

Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending Matt/Battle Building Company for renovation/construction projects and would happily hire him again for future work.
